Any recommedations for an inexpensive weekend stay in Bali at a hotel or cottage? I have browsed so many websites,sometimes the best information comes from a personal source.Thanks.

kuta: poppies lane I & II, you can go there and look through the long road for the best hotel you want (if you're going to stay for longer time, you can ask for discount)

ubud: try the hanoman street, you can have a padi field view with 9 USD per night

rent a motorcycle to travel around (4 USD per day)
rent a car (15-30 USD per day)

sanur, legian is a bit expensive (but for 'bules'--> we called western people by that, it's not significant expensive)

it depends on your preferences...you like quiet beach or crowded beach (great nightlife fun).

However, inexpensive hotels are mushrooming in Kuta, Tuban, Legian....
Don worry...even its cheap...some are clean.

P.S Theres warning to play around the beach lately. Just take extra careful when doing water sport.
