I've been in Surabaya for a week and wanna go to Jakarta, either by train or plane.

Can u give some opinions what train or plane i should get? How much?

N where can i order the ticket?
Limited budget. 1 million to be 3 days in Jakarta b4 back to Surabaya

with train from surabaya to Jakarta will take you around 10 hours with fast train : Argo anggrek
or you can go with the overnight train from Surabaya to Jakarta- that was a long..long.. not so comfortable trip- 15 hrs - Argo Bromo and some other cheap trains.

An "executive" ticket to Jakarta for Rp 200,000 (Agro Angrek) I think it is reasonable to assume the price will be the same doing this journey in the opposite direction. And overnight executive could a bit the same price(Agro Bromo).

Cheaper "business" class tickets (non air con) are available for Rp 120,000. (Bima - Sembrani - both the overnight trains).

flying is much better than taking a train, especially considering the long, long journey as compared to just 1 hr flight time. There are lots of budget, no-frills airlines flying from Surabaya to Jakarta and unlike in many other big cities, they depart from the international airport (Soekarno-Hatta), instead of a smaller, domestic only airport. Better check their flight schedules first, though.

Secondly, Indonesian trains are notorious for their tardiness (but then, it's not very uncommon in Indonesia), they could easily be over 1hr behind schedule. A lot of times, it is due to technical problems or accidents (of some other trains somewhere out there).

On the other hand, however, a journey by train can be very interesting (esp. for first timers). The views of suburban areas and villages, paddy fields, old station buildings (there are some en route from Surabaya to Jakarta) along with their local specialties vendors can be very inspiring.

You can use local transportation (bus or train or taxi) to Tangerang, Bekasi or Bogor. For prices - check to Gambir Train Station in Jakarta.

unh its kinda hard hard to travel just with one million rp. 4 three days u need less days.
if you only have 3 days.. then you should fly instead of boarding a train. it takes 1 hour or so from surabaya to jakarta, while train will take you the whole day. You can fly with adam air, lion air, or asia air ( www.airasia.com ) they are offering cheap flights from jakarta to surabaya and vice versa. Last month i bought around 450.000 rupiah return ticket.

Better take the airplane. Air Asia is the cheapest one if you booked in advance.
Train and plane fare are not much difference.

when you wanna go around JABOTABEK take a taxi in jakarta area or rent a car with/without driver, search it in kompas online or any news paper ads(iklan). some car rental service offering from hours, a day, a week, and or monthly renting with diffriend range of fee. or you can drive from surabaya to jakarta.

i suppose you to take airplane if you take a train it,ll cost you a lot of time and money.i think it,s enough 1 million in 3 days but don,t buy a lot of things so you just don,t anyhow spend your money
