Can atm (debit) cards (american) be used in java, indonesia? |
Travel Info kinda freaking me out thinking about carrying alot of cash so far from home... Travel Tips Yes a cirrus or plus debit card can be used almost anywhere in Indonesia. I recommend Bank Central Asia (BCA) as having reliable ATMs and also allowing you to take out up to 2.5million rp out so as to minimise fees. Having said that any ATM is fine but some have a per transaction limit of 400.000rp which will cause your fees to add up. Don't count on the smallest of towns having an ATM but they are just about as common as they are in Europe or the US. Others I'm almost sure....most foreign countries do but I would check with your bank or you could probably do some research on the internet b/c in some countries, you cannot use your debit card there. Good luck and have fun with your travels! check your atm card for any restrictions. either it's infront or at the back of your card. it will say something like: outside (any country) not applicable or the best way to know is ask your bank... Check your banks web site, also there are different symbols on your Debit card, search the websites for these systems, they should tell you if any ATMs are available in that area. I would strongly discourage the use of your Debit card for a number of reasons. Large blocks of cash (much larger than your purchase) can be blocked out of your checking account, not to mention you are not as protected from fraud. Additionally, if you do encounter fraud, it is harder to get money back. Use a credit card if you have one as your liability is limited. Check with the various credit card sites about fraud protection. carry cash ,cards are only good at better hotels it is not wise to try to use cards in 3rd world countries sure you can as long your american bank have partnership with indonesian bank.. otherwise just use credit card..many stores accept card more than debit... yes u can.. master card or visa card ... such american express..amex .. etc..u can used it |
