Do you have a recommended itinerary for one week in Bali?

Travel Info
Want to see an important temple or two, a little beach time, a little shopping for arts and crafts. Where is a central place to stay? Not too expensive? Can you just stay in Ubud and take day trips to other places? Do we need Visas? (we are Americans)

Travel Tips
Americans need Visa upon arrival in Jakarta Airport or you can also get visa at Indonesian embassy in your country.

There are a lot of temple all over the places in Bali but if you can consider visiting Borobodur Temple in Jogyakarta, Borobodur is the biggest temple in the world. Jogyakarta is less than 2 hours flight from Bali.

Proposed Itinery:
1. Day one
-Arrive in Denpasar airport and go to your hotel in Ubud area.
-Walk around ubud, visiting those art shops and painting shops (very artistic and beautiful).
-Dining at Ibu Oka restaurant - provides the best piglet in town.

2.Day two
- Go to Kuta beach for bath sunning and beach massage
-Walk around legian and kuta square for shopping
-Visit Denpasar for city tour before going back to Ubud.

3.Day three
- Visiting Monkey forest than go to Tanah Lot to enjoy the Sunset
-Go to bedugul lake to have water sport activities, jet ski and parasailing

4.Day four
- Go to lovina beach to see dolphin
- Get some fruits in market nearby

5.Day five
- Go to Kintamani hills to enjoy the scheneries there
- Can consider to stay in hotel there

6.Day six
- Having SPA in hotel and walking around ubud

Happy holiday in Bali!

Others
dont forget to eat at jimbaran, seafood restaurants on the beach and has a great view.
go for snorkeling, diving, jet skiing, bungy jumping, and others.
and how about clubbing? go to double six. (66)
cafes or a place to hang out? try kudeta, and others. bali has tons of cafes. pick the good one, not the bad one.. hehe..
It's better to stay in Nusa Dua/Legian/Seminyak area.I'll suggest Conrad in Nusa Dua. Good service & beautiful beach. Ubud is far from the main attractions about 1hr drive if there's no traffic but most of the time the traffic is bad. You need visa to enter to Bali but you can make the visa on the arrival gate in the Bali airport. For shopping,i'll suggest legian or seminyak area.
important temple in Bali is mother temple, the biggest temple in bali, borobudur is the bigestin indonesia/ south east ,beach lovina beach is most quite,i thing you all stay in Ubud is very nice place and you can take day trip to other places in bali with car,oh yes you all need visas.
Yes, you need to get a visa but if I'm not mistaken you can get that at the airport here in Bali. Still, always a good idea to check with your agent/embassy first.

Unless you're into clubbing and bars, Ubud is definitely the place for you: cultural dances like the Kecak dance and the Barong, markets, temples, the palace, the best suckling pig on the island (next door to the palace) and some pretty awesome restaurants (from cheap to extravagant.) Transport is always available to anywhere else from here, just make a deal with a driver (you'll find them at practically every corner in main Ubud) and they'll take you anywhere for the right fee. They tend to overcharge so bargain!

Tons of nice homestays and bungalows - try Jalan Dewi Sita and Monkey Forest road for some good deals in a central location.

You should try to visit Tanah Lot temple for the most amazing sunset, go to the local market in Kumbasari, the art markets in Ubud and Sukawati, take a hike up Batur volcano overlooking the lake, have an organic meal and check out the organic markets in lovely cool Bedugul... so much to see here!!! You'll have a wonderful time!
Ubud is pretty far from south part of the island. for itinerary to South part of island you will have to drive about 1-2hrs from ubud. If you stay in Nusa Dua (let say Conrad) you will need about 40min-1hrs to Kuta area.

I would recommend you to stay in Kuta/Seminyak area. Go around the south part of the island Kuta, legian, seminyak, jimbaran, uluwatu and Nusa Dua(the list place of interest from other answer). There's almost nothing to see in Nusa Dua area so I don't recommend to stay there as you'll be about 1hrs away from most destination. When you finished the southern part of the Island then you can go to Ubud and experience the surroundings.

If you decide to stay in one place for the whole trip just prepare to travel quite a distance
