Why Indonesian actors/actresses are fair skin, very nice features and look like Eurasians? |
Travel Info Actors like Irwansyah, Ria Ramadhani, Tamara have white skin, nice features etc. Why are the ordinary other Indonesians look darker and not like the actors on TV?? Travel Tips there are around 300 distinct native ethnicity in indonesia. not all indonesians have dark skin. don't stereotype please... some that you see on tv (actors/actresses) somehow represents the lighter skin. they also probably come from inter-racial marriages, who knows... and yeah, entertainment world in indonesia prefers those with a light skin, straight hair, skinny, etc. but isn't Hollywood like that too? Others Those actors/actresses bleach their skin; they can afford to. I've noticed this about Asians in Asia. Those that have large disposable income tend to bleach/lighten their skin, even nipples, so that they can have a "pearl," appearance. Their beauty standards are to look "white"/caucasian or rather to have "western," features without actually being white. Well, I'm Balinese(Indo) and I do notice that celebs have a greater feature. I really don't like this. The entertainment business in Indonesia only chooses white skin , sometimes Eurasians (tamara is half polish), in other word only beautiful "outside" looks that they chose. I tHINK OTHER ordinary Indo people also deserve what so- called-celebs. BY THE WAY I HATE INDONESIAN CELEBS...HOPE YOU KNOW THAT More than likely because that is what is taught as being more beautiful in terms of mass media, or at least the mass media with the most money(being western). If you look at the Stars in most cultures you'll find it is the same. Personally I LOVE dark indon women, but it was an Isaan Thai woman that stole my heart :) Isaan(喔傅喔覆喔? are known for being the very dark thai, and my wife is GORGEOUS dark. Also I'm not sure in Indon culture, but at least in Thai culture(the only SE Asian culture I am very familiar with), dark is considered to be lower class. If you are out in the fields and working all day you will be dark. If you are inside and being a pampered aristocrat you will be light. My wife always talks about how beautiful lighter skin is(because that is how most Thai are taught), but personally I think she is crazy, because as I mentioned I love dark skin. Some of the answers you have received have touched on the reasons. There is a prevailing ideal in Indonesia. The ideal for women is white skin, long dark hair, smaller noses. Some of that comes from just having what is considered royal blood which sometimes meant having foreign blood a very long time ago. The Palaces have a long, long history of traditional cosmetics to care for the skin to make it become more like the ideal. Martha Tilaar and Sari Ayu are two of the big name traditional cosmetic companies that carry the secrets of the Palaces to the public. Quite a few of the stars look Eurasian because the ARE Eurasian. They have one or the other parent that is Indonesian and the other that is either European or American. Hence the name "Indo". It's actually quite a beautiful mix. That's not to say that there aren't soley Indonesian women and men that are equally as beautiful. Some of it also goes back to the Hindu Epics, the Ramayana and the Mahabarata and the descriptions of the Gods and the Godesses. They are often described as having fine features, light skin and long black hair. For the current generation I think it's mostly about being able to move in and out of cultures without being pegged as one or the other. It's a beautiful thing to have features from two different races. More unusual features make them look more interesting, and attract more fans. Isn't that part of the celebrity thing? HI, Thats true that some fair skin actors/actresses, those are not a pure Indonesian....most of them are multiracial. However, cosmetics these days are very easy to "change" their original color. Funny is that, some multimedia lighting can laso make them looks whiter than normal. Desy Ratnasari looks so white when she showed in Lux ad....but in reality...she looks much darker. There are some Indonesian race/etnic who looks fair....but majority is brown or light brown MONEY & LIFESTYLE. 1. they can do lots of skin caring. e.g : bleaching, milk-bathing, spa... automatically makes their skin fairer than people who don't do those things. 2. they also can buy good & expensive skin care products. automatically have better result that the cheap ones. 3. they have georgeous cars. protect them from sunlight, bad weather, and even dust (maybe...) 4. they eat food with complete nutritions plus buy some food suplements. 5. they do gyms & fitness a lot (keep their body shaped) 6. genetics. some are not pure Indonesian. mixed with another human races. and well, that's the way it is !! if they don't have fair skin, nice features, then how can they be succesfull in that job-field ?? that's what most people to see (maybe even you?) cheers, :) |
