What language do people speak in Israel? |
Travel Info I was just curious if people speak Hebrew or a different language there. Travel Tips The majority of Israel (who's Jewish) speaks Hebrew, as it's the official language in Israel today (alongside with Arabic and English, the three formal languages of Israel as it was decided by the British Mandate). Hebrew is the language of the public/ governmental institutes, journalism etc... The Israeli Arabs and the Palestinians speak Arabic, and so do some of the Jewish Israelis who came from Arab countries. Some of the other spoken languages in Israel, Russian, Amharic, Yiddish, German, English etc... represent different Jewish groups in Israel.
