Travel Info Who helped to train the Israel army during the early days? Travel Tips if by "early days" you mean the beginning of israel (may 1948), nobody trained them. The day Israel was created, the jews all celebrated. the very next day, they were attacked by SEVERAL arab countries. They had no time to train for that, but they ended up winning. After that war, i believe that the Israeli Defense Force was created and soldiers began getting actual training. Others does "early days" mean before 1948? Before the foundation of the state, there were three main groups serving as troops around Israel. The largest group was the Hagana. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/haganah... Etzel (right winged) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/irgun... Lehi (extremely right winged) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/lehi_%28gro... Mostly, the groups learned as they went along, protecting Jewish settlements from Arab geurilla warfare. At first it was only in defense, but they soon realized that they needed to go outside of the settlements and attack the source of the trouble. They trained themselves, opening courses to train with different weapons under different conditions. The groups just became more organized, with captains and generals and other leaders who took the situation into their own hands. There were many Israelis in the "Hebrew Brigade" in the British Army. Jews also joined the British during WW2. There was also Wingate(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/orde_wingat... a British commander to whom we owe a lot, who stopped Arab revolts with British-Jewish night squads. He taught innovative ways of fighting in combat. The Brits and later the French and Americans and even the Germans and south Africans. Rambo the 1st Myegypt |
