It is safe to have an Israeli pen pal just as it's safe to have an American pen pal, English, Chinese, Australian or French.
I know a girl in 6th grade who loves playing soccer, but my own daughter hates it. It's a personal preference, like anywhere.

i think its fine to have a pen pal in israel- its probably safer than an american one- you are too far away to get into any trouble!
and soccer is almost the national sport of israel- like baseball for americans, so i cant imagine girls hating it, although some might, like every other sport!
