Is it dangerous for an American Christian to go to Israel or, Jerusalem?

Travel Info
Because of the terroist, Jews, and the Arabs.
And do you know what are Arabs?

Travel Tips
I can tell you for a fact that the Israeli Jews have no issue whatsoever with American Christians (as long as they aren't prosletyzing). All places in Israel proper are safe for an American (Jew or Christian or anyone else), however there are places in the Palestinian territories that you might want to avoid, such as Gaza where kidnappings of westerners has been known to happen. Terrorist attacks inside Israel do happen, but at this point they are quite rare - usually only a couple a year. As for Jerusalem I first have to disagree with a different poster. Western Jerusalem is recognized internationally as Israel. Eastern Jerusalem (where most of the holy sites happen to be) is disputed. However, to say that it is not a part of Israel but a part of Palestine is erroneous; Palestine in this context has never existed, so that is an unfair statement. It is true the East Jerusalem was not in Israel's hands between 1949 and 1967, but once again at that time the area was part of Transjordan and not Palestine. Arabs are peoples whose ancestors hail from the Arabian Peninsula. They like Jews and Ethiopians (Amharic, the Ethiopian language is a semitc one) are Semites. Many people equate 'arabs' to Muslims, though this is not really correct. "Arab" is an ethnicity not a religion, so one can be an Arab Christian. In general the Arabs were disjointed nomadic familial tribes until they were united by the religion of Islam. This unity is what enabled the Muslims to spread so quickly out of Arabia and conquer great swaths of land. Contrary to what another poster has stated, Israel has not been Arab since before written history. For the most part it was a hodgepodge of Semitic peoples until the Kings of Israel/Judah (most notable David) established Hebrew dominance over the land. At that point the land was mostly Hebrew with Philistines living along the coast (the origin of the name Palestine) and some Jebusite enclaves. Israel in general was the contested middle ground between the Egyptian empire and the Mesopotamian empires. In 586 BCE Jerusalem was taken by Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon and soon after the majority of the Jews were expelled to Babylon. However, under Cyrus the Great they were allowed to return and rebuild the Temple. This stood until 70 CE when it was sacked by the Romans. Many Jews were carried off to slavery to Italy (interesting fact: the money and labor to build the Colleseum was Jewish; the money came from the sacking of the Temple and the labor was Jewish slaves). 60 years later the Jews revolted again and were defeated again by the Romans, leading to massacres and the ultimate loss of Jewish autonomy in the region. The Romans then renamed the area Palestine after the Philistines to erase any connection between Jews and the land. After that the area changed hands many times as the regional powers flowed and ebbed. Back to the question: Jerusalem is safe. If you want a rating out of 10 I'd give Israel in general a 9. I'd give cities like NY and LA a 6 and middle America an 8.

It's completely safe for an American Christian to go to Israel and to Jerusalem, which is in Israel. We welcome you here with open arms!

Arabs are an ethnic group originally from Arabia.
Israeli
Yes it is dangerous for Christians in Jerusalem. Utra-Orthodox Jews are known to spit on and harass non-Jews especially Christians:

Jerusalem is located in Palestine. In 1967 the colony of Israel invaded the remaining 22% of Palestine and currently occupies Jerusalem under cruel racist rule. There is no nation or international body which recognizes Israel's claim to Jerusalem. Arab Christians who live in Jersualem have no rights simply because they are not Jewish.

Arabs are a linguistic group numbering 300 million. It is a debunked myth that all 'Semites' are from Arabia. The Arabs who live in Palestine are the native people of the region. Their roots in Palestine go back to before written history.

Palestinians have their own unique dialect, culture, and history which is distinct from other Arabs.
