Why is it every time someone says something about Israel-its considered anti-semtic? |
Travel Info ? but when israel says or does things contrary to what it would want done to its own-they aren't considered bad or anti-whatever. go ahead i'm ready to be called anti-semtic. even if i'm asking an honest question. Travel Tips being jewish is a religion not a ethnicity. sammy davis jr' was of jewish faith. Others i have no idea what you are trying to say. If you are anti Semitic, then you are being a goof. If you are asking a question, then it is OK. what exactly is your question? you anti-semetic a-s-s....how dare you say such a thing about the jews...we will now find out where you live and cover your yard in manishevitz I think you're exagerating. Most of the time, no one says anything. Only some of the time do people call it anti-semitism, and they're usually and least partially right. You have to understand that Israel is defined as THE Jewish state, not 'a' Jewish state. As such, personal criticisms of the country are often applicable to the Jewish people as a whole. Saying things like "Israel shouldn't do that" or "Israel is not acting in the interest of world peace" is ok, but saying things like "Israel is evil" or "Israel is a blight on the world" are over that line. Saying "Israel should give back the territories" is ok, but something like "Israel has no right to exist" is not. Also, when people call for the de-existence of Israel, they are basically calling for the genocide of the Jews that live there, which is also inflamatory. You have to understand that Israel is a sensitive subject for most Jews; it is after all our only country in the world. It is the only guaranteed safe-haven for when the world turns ugly. I know that sounds stupid and ludicrous to many people, but as good as things are in certain places for the Jews today, history has shown that it's better not to expect it to last. No country in history that has had a sizable Jewish population has remained good to the Jews for very long. England, France and Spain all expelled/tortured/forced converted their Jews in the not so distant past, and I hope we all remember the holocaust and the things that transpired there. Can you really be so sure that fledgling countries like USA, Canada, South Africa and Australia will never turn racist? I can't personally. On top of that many Jews feel a close emotional connection to the state of Israel. My guess is you aren't a minority; if you are than you might understand. Jews growing up in the world are always outsiders to some degree. There may not be racism, but no matter where you live the society isn't set up for you. In America for example there may be a division of church and state, but that doesn't stop Christmas and Easter from being national holidays, while Succot, Passover and Shavuot are not, and neither are the High Holy Days. Even if you aren't observant of the stricter rules of these holidays, it's still comforting to be able to go to a land where you fit in; where the countries holidays match your own and the culture has personal meaning for you. I guess just try to understand the Jewish viewpoint. Their is a big difference between criticizing the state of Israel or the IDF and blaming Jews. Its used by fanatic Zionists in the USA to anyone who criticize the Israeli occupation activates. Its done only in the USA. This phenomena dose not exist even in Israel itself or in Europe only in the USA. http://www.btselem.org |
