What is the best/cheapest airline from the US to Israel? How much $ should I take with me? |
Travel Info I basically need to know what airline I should use, and how much money I will need for a hotel/food/touring. Travel Tips Best airline from US to Israel is probably El Al. Cheapest is probably Israir. You can get a ticket for about $1000-1200. How much money to take depends on what type of accomidations you want, but factoring in the cost of food, lodging, transportation, and so on, I would recommend taking about $2000 with you. My thinking is that you will be staying in a 3* hotel (which isn't as nice as a 3* hotel in Europe or USA) for about $50-70 a night. So for the 3 weeks, that's about $1000-$1500. For transportation, I would recommend taking a lot of trains, sheiruts (shared taxis) and regular cabs. This should set you back about another $200-$300 over the 3 weeks. Food in Israel is quite expensive (and I am assuming you won't want to eat just falafel and shuarma for 3 weeks), I'd plan on spending $10-$15 a day on food and drink. So that's about another $200-$300. Additionally, you'll need extra money for souvenirs, museum admissions, etc. So I'd recommend bringing between $1500 and $2200. Best mode of transport to Cairo is probably by airplane (El Al). I wouldn't take any chances driving through the Sinai Peninsula in light of recent terrorist attacks there. Others i think that israir has really good prices. they let you buy 2 one way fares, so it doesnt matter how long or how short you stay. about the money situation- it depends on what type activites and hotels you want to be doing/staying at. if youre at a hostel, they are much cheaper. but for food and touring, i would say $100 a week would be okay. www.israirairlines.com Airline prices change. For a list of the best travel bargain sites on the web, go to http://www.travelstartingpoint.com... Hi! Well, El Al, Israir, I'm pretty sure American Airlines, or Northwest Airlines does do a direct flight to Israel as well. The prices of the tickets range anywhere from 800-2,000 USD. Depending on when you purchase your ticket. For Hotel/Food/Touring, I would say bring like 500 Dollars with you at first, then if you need to spend more money, bring travelers checks with you, or your atm/credit card. They also have Western Unions stores, so you can have your family Members here in the US, I'm assuming your in the US, send you money. Food can get expensive, it just depends on what you buy, they have all your american restaurants, but remember, they're kosher, and can't mix dairy, and meat/poultry. They have like a Kroger, and other grocery stores there, so you could even cook your own food in your hotel room. Remember also, that power sources are different here and their, so bring, or buy power adaptors/ converters. Don't drink any water in Israel, do to your a foreigner, and are not used to water, and things that Israelis/Palestinians are Immune too! Hope you enjoy your trip! Remember, go light with your money, until you need more, don't let people know your a foreigner, because once they know, they start charging you ridicuolus prices. |
