Question on haredi jeswish boys and mens dress?

looking at pictures of some of the haredi jewish men and boys in mea shearim the impression i get in that some of them seem to wear what i would almost define as 3/4 length shorts and over the knee black socks am i right or what do they wear.

also this may sound like a crazy question but if i visited mea shearim but could iget away with dressing like that or wolud they complain as i was`nt one of them so to speak

I think if you were to visit Mea Shearim, they would take offense to you dressing like that, since clothing for them is not a fashion statement so much as it is a religious/cultural statement on their part.
