Travel Tips just laughing on how ignorant people are with there answers...where did you come up with such an answer "amber" ??? in israel the women dress in high fashion clothes( secular women that is, but they count to a majority of the israeli women), they are very well dressed.you dont have to dress modestly.if you are going to a religious area then you should carry with you something to cover your shoulders , bu thats about it. if you are traveling in summer then remember its very hot and winter months it gets cooler so take with you appropriate clothes.the israeli's love there jeans. Others Long sleeves, no cleavage whatsoever, long pants, and burqa if you think you can handle one. In some areas, you must wear a burqa (like religious temples etc.) and sometimes even must wear the ones that completely cover your entire body except for your eyes. Be careful what you wear in Israel, and make sure you travel with a male companion at ALL times. Best of luck Street walking: casual (short, jeans, etc..) Beach: Swimsuit (bikini is the majority there) Temples, Mosques, Churches visits:: cover your shoulders with a shawl Israel is very, very westernized. So, don't worry Summer is hot. You can wear what ever your heart desire as long as you're in Tel Aviv or the big cities except Jerusalem where you must be modest and Conservative looking person,just for respecting the local residents of Jerusalem. you can wear whatever you want to wear. israel is a normal western country, just like the u.s. or canada or wherever it is that you live. you are just assuming that because its in the middle east it must be a religious fundamentalist country, but most israelis are completely secular and have little to do with organized religion. here is a video that takes place in tel aviv israel, you can examine what they are wearing if you want http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=troaeytrk... but you should do some research and to see if you are going to a conservative religious area, if you go to one of them you should dress respectfully, (i.e. in pants or a skirt that goes at least to your knees, and something with longish sleeves) In general, women in Israel dress very freely, so anything you have would be fine. If however you plan on visiting any holy sites or religious neighborhoods like mea she'arim then you should bring some more modest clothing.
