I'm planning on visiting Israel. What questions can I expect them to ask me as part of aIrport security? |
Travel Info I've read that the security process can be incredibly humiliating, so I'm kind of worried about it. I'm certainly not a terrorist, I like Israel, but I'm worried about when they ask me about my religious beliefs. I'm part Jewish, and have been involved at churches and at synagogues. I don't honestly even know what I believe although I do believe in God. Anyway, if anyones been through it who can share some insight, I would appreciate it. Oh, one final thing ... Any help would be greatly appreciated Travel Tips I agree with the above two answers. The main security check will be by Israeli officials at the airport of departure in your home country. I was caught with a Bible tract in Farsi stuck under the cardboard base of my hand luggage which I didn't even know was there. They thought it was Arabic. When I blurted out that it was Farsi, I'd dropped myself well in it! It was a bit James Bond-ish. A small guy with dark glasses and a shaved head, who was obviously the boss, took the bag away with the main luggage and they didn't give me it back until the plane was boarding, two hours later. All this time I thought I wouldn't be allowed to travel, and since I'd packed in my job, my apartment and everything because God had told me to go to Israel, I was really scared. But I got the bag back and no more was said. I guess they must have found a Farsi speaker to confirm it was what I said it was. At Ben Gurion Airport the only check will be immigration. Give them the name of a hostel or hotel and tell them you've come to Israel because you love Israel and want to see it. They like to hear that. If you mention God it may amuse their secular minds but they'll respect you, because over half the visitors come for religious reasons. Others dont worry too much, dont be nervous, they are well qualified to judge who to single out. remember to be yourself. they will ask you, who packed your bags and if anyone is sending things with you, if you have electrical things with you? where will you stay while in israel? if you have been before? do you have fam in israel?how long will you be there? have a good trip travel often to israel Airport security is a hassle, albeit a neccessary one.
