There are several airlines that offer flights between US and Israel. The ones via Turkey are cheap. There are several tour companies and prices will be lower if you book upon arrival, rather than in advance.
For now, I'd head somewhere other than Israel.

It's a hassle because of the security and there is always the question hanging in the air of when is the next bombing or suicide attack. Likewise, the security folks there are not pleasant and prone to hassle you.

Better to head to Europe where, at least, you can relax and enjoy the place.
