People of Israel: What percentage of Israelis originally come from Slavic countries? |
Travel Info Do Ashkinazeem discriminate among themselves? Travel Tips I am not sure I follow your line of thought to understand how your first question connects to the second one. In any case: > What percentage of Israelis originally > come from Slavic countries? I don't think there is such information available. You should start counting immigrants starting from the late XIX century - commonly accepted as the begginings of the new "Jewish colonization". Of course, there were thousands of Jews already living in Palestine by then. The World Zionist Organization (whose objective is to promote immigration of Jews to Israel, nothing to do with world domination ;-) keeps some immigration statistics. Out of 2850444 immigrants between 1948 and 2000, 1073012 came from the former Soviet Union, that is 37.6%. There is no breakdown of other "Slavic" countries, rolled up among the "Rest of the world". Since 2000, 60130 jews immigrated to Israel, 50762 of them from the former Soviet Union and 816 from other Eastern European countries. Total of 85.7%. There are some rough numbers available for the pre-state of Israel immigration waves, some of them from Eastern European countries. See sources below. As for your second question: > Do Ashkinazeem discriminate among themselves? Yes, they do. Source(s): http://www.wzo.org.il/en/resources/view.... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/aliyah... Other Travel Tips I dont care as long as all the people are friends just the way I am with all Model I don't know, but WOW!!! Adamska, this is such a great, constructive question! I'm so proud of you!!! well all of them aren't from anywhere near Palestine! It would have to be a fairly hefty number of them! |
