Is Israel and Turkey Safe to visit? |
Travel Info With the recent bombing in turkey and the things that happen in Israel and these type of countries is it safe to travel there? I and about 50 or so other college mates are going on a BIble Study Tour over in the Holy Land for an entire month looking at all the old biblical sites, including the pyramids etc. We will be going to dead sea as well as many other places.. Would you say its safe to do this? Whats the likelyhood of getting bombed or shot at? Thanks Travel Tips Turkey is not only safe but a wonderful experience, most especially for a Bible Study Tour. Turkey is, after all, the true birthplace of the Christian movement, St. Paul was born there and much of the New Testament letters came from him. There's even a tour called "following in the steps of St. Paul. I can guarantee you that you will see and learn far more about the birth and progression of Christianity by touring in Turkey, we spent a month there. For a group of your size, you might be able to get a very favourable rate from http://www.pachatours.com/ who runs an excellent tour. But otherwise, Turkey is easy to drive in, though not UK style, it's based more on the US system. Distance between attractions are fairly long. Study the Pacha material carefully, they are very reasonable, all meals included, great guides that are very in tune with the Christianity aspects of Turkey. We greatly preferred Turkey to Israel and Egypt. Others Im not sure on Turkey but I do know that Israel is safer than the media portrays, the chances of an American getting killed in Israel is rather very small. I am an Israeli and I've visited Turkey. Both countries are extremely safe. You have nothing to worry about whatsoever. Happy travels!!! To the best of my knowledge, both places are safe. By the way, the pyramids are not a biblical site. Contrary to popular perception, the Israelites did not build them. No it is not safe, really it is not, the Israelis have escalated the fight with hamas in last few days and hamas is seriously planning to retaliate, most probably there will be two three attacks in Jerusalem and Tel Aviv, so avoid this to places, and of course don鈥檛 visit sederot 鈥? well turkey is but im not sure about israel I've spent 8 months three years ago and 3 months two years ago in Israel AND the Palestinian Territories and believe me, there's more chance of being killed or hurt in a road accident than anything else just like everywhere. If you're on a Biblical pilgrimage you MUST go to the Territories: Bethlehem, Jericho (very scenic), Hebron are all important Biblical sites. The Israelis will try to put you off but the Palestinians will be really glad to see you. Don't forget there are Palestinain Christians, including evangelicals. I can put you in touch with some if you e-mail me. |
