How do we solve the Israeli-Palestinian conflict? |
Travel Info I am neutral on this issue. I have been trying to figure out what the best solution to this problem is. You can't just make the Jews pack up after almost 60 years and move around again. But you can't force Palestinians to move out either. I hate how my government just supports Israel blindly. I think my government needs to be more neutral or just keep out of the problem, completely. It angers me when I hear how Israel uses US Apache helicopters to bomb Palestinian civlian neghborhoods just because one terror suspect suposedly lives there. I can see why the Palestinians hate the US so much. If Canada dropped a bomb on my head because a suspected terrorist was in my neighborhood, and my family was killed, and it turned out he was never there, I would be willing to attack Canada. I just want to see peace over in the Middle East. It's depressing hearing about all of these civilians getting bombs dropped on them. Travel Tips stop support to Israel. Palestinians are not all terrorists....they want their country back. George Washington was called a terrorist by Britain when he was fighting them in the war of independence. so what's the difference? it's all about double standards. the Palestinian issue is not complicated....the US & Isreal wanted to make look like it is so we can not understand it an turn a blind eye. isreal is way more powerful than the poor palestinains so what can the PalestinIans do? just sit and take it? would you? Others Palestinians stop terrorist attacks against Israeli civilians---> Israel ceases military responses and becomes much more ammenable to making concessions to the Palestinians. That's the short answer. Best way, arm the Palestinians with the same military equipment as now enjoyed by Israel, teach them in the proper use of such equipment, then turn them loose on each other. It is supposed to be against international law for any nation to use it's military against a civilian population, but every attempt by the UN to issue resolutions against Israel and or sanctions has been thwarted by the Veto's of the United States. Some say that the terrorist attacks by the Palestinians are the reason for Israel's bombings, but lets face a simple fact. When any army has the military advantage as enjoyed by Israel, keeps the Palestinians from having impliments in which to fight back the aggression and taking of their land, they are fighting back with whatever means if left to them, body bombs, home made rockets and whatever they can muster, for this reason they call them Terrorist, when in fact they are fight for their very lives with next to nothing. 155 rockets into Israel, killing one person, against one airship attack killing 40 of their people, sound like a fair fight? I think not. Israel has every right to exist, but so do their neighbors. In my humble opinion, as soon as the Palestinian people acknowledge the right of Israel to be where it is, they will experience peace and prosperity for themselves. As soon as the stop any attempt at destroying Israel, G-d will bless them the same way the Saudi Arabs were blessed with riches and prosperity. If they persist in attacking Israel (any one), they will face destruction as they already know. Peoples in conflict, it doesn't matter if they are related (such is the case of Ireland, which,by the way, will start an era of prosperity and peace)as long as they maintain a quarrel, no peace or prosperity will be present. As I said, this is what I think, you know, I may be wrong but I may be right, what do you think? The Israeli-Palestinian issue was solved 60 years ago when Israel was created (have a thought about India loosing Pakistan, and Cashmere, and Serbia loosing Kosovo...see a pattern here?). The problem is that Palestinians do not accept to live with any other BUT Palestinians. Israelis do not have a problem with having Palestinians work in their shops, or have business with them, the Palestinians have a problem with living with anyone else but Muslims. ITs a fact (nobody is actually talking about Jordania killing a few hundreds Palestinians, how come? No need for news if muslims kill muslims...but if big bad jewish kills muslims, then its headlines). As for the civilians/terrorists, which ones actually use civilians as bullet protection? Obviously, it is easier to say a "civilian" was killed rather than admit that this individual was attacking someone else, because he felt anger? Again, who teaches their children starting from 2 years old that you HAVE to kill Israelis? That you have to know how to use a gun to kill Israelis? Please....do they have nothing else but energy on blaming the neighbour rather than spend their energy on building something for themselves. And why do you always say Israel is so rich? It isnt actually. And Palestinians do receive a lot of money from different countries...see...Iran...Syria... but let me think...lets buy guns! You say you would attack Canada is it dropped a bomb on your head, and you say Canada is Israel...why dont you see it the other way around then? Israel only attacks when they get bombed...how often do you hear of Israeli suicide bombers? Oh you will say becaus they have the land...oh, yes, great thinking. So you think they actually like getting bombed? Only 1 Israeli killed with how many Palestinians? But their numbers can never be proved to be correct! You can just check with the war in Lebanon...the school had 80 something killed but 4 days later it was only 4-6. Still, 6, I will not say 6 deaths are nothing, they were someone's loved on. But it is a pretty high inflation on dead bodies... Think about the French who did not want to go to Lebanon last summer..want to know why? because they know it is full of terrorists hiding in civilian clothes. a few years ago, a whole building full with french soldiers was destroyed (they all died) in a building which was "supposedly" civilian friendly!! Geez...the nice civilians. I may sound unhappy, but it is so inbelivable to see ppl everywhere taking sides with the ones who seem the most "vulnerable" but which in fact are hiding their games, they will turn around and get you next time. Everything is fine with Kosovo right? Changing the subject? not really...How do you think the Serbs feel? Are they actually bombing Kosovo now? Why not? Maybe Palestinians really like to blame someone for their trouble. At least Mahmoud Abbas is trying hard, he seems like the only one trying to make peace with Israel, and Israel knows it. But Hamas is trying to put his efforts down...it wont end until Palestinians decide to live in Peace. by the way, there always were Jews in the Palestine-Israel area! Another thing...check out the number of ongoing wars in the World...tell me how many include muslims attacking others. Its just an observation, nothing else. http://www.religioustolerance.org/curr_w... I'm sorry my friend, but your neutrality is mitigated by your media exposure. I don't think what you described in your question shows neutrality. "I hate how my government just supports Israel blindly. I think my government needs to be more neutral or just keep out of the problem, completely. It angers me when I hear how Israel uses US Apache helicopters to bomb Palestinian civlian neghborhoods just because one terror suspect suposedly lives there." <- this is not a neutral statement (or a factual one to boot). Perhaps you should check your media exposure, because you are not a neutral individual on this point. Plus, in reffering to Jew moving out "after 60 years" means that you're refering to the state of Israel, and not the territories, meaning your giving credence to those who call for the de-creation of Israel. Also, not neutral. "It's depressing hearing about all of these civilians getting bombs dropped on them." I'll suggest again to check up on your media exposure. To answer some of your points, America does not support Israel blindly. Throughout the history of Israel, America's support has not been a constant. Today it is at a relative high for three primary reasons. The first is that America is on a campaign to bring democracy to the Middle East, and as Israel is a true democratic state (and has been since inception), it exemplifies all that America is trying to build. The second reason is that America has similar goals with regards terrorism as Israel does; Israel's war on terrorism is in line with America's war on terrorism. The third reason is that Israel has displayed unreciprocated pursuit of peace. While Israel withdrew completely from Gaza without even receiving anytihng in return, the other "peace partner" elected Hamas, a terrorist entity who refuses to accept the three basic principles of the quartet (recognizing Israel, accepting previous agreements, ceasing violence) which are the basic neccessities for peace. Despite Israel's taking a very large first step, no peace overtures have come through from the other side. That is why America not-so-blindly supports Israel. Does it bother you to hear that over 250 rockets have been fired into Israel over the past month? Your description of Israel's targetted strikes/anti-terror activity is grossly erroneous and not even close to accurate. If you want to see tactics similar to those you describe, check out Lebanon's current conflict in its refugee camp. Also, your cycle of events theory is off by the fact that Israel's response is a response to terror i.e. terror predates the response. As to how we solve it, I don't really think anyone can go into detail. Essentially it would require compromise on both sides and a division of the West Bank. |
