What to do in Israel during Shabat ? |
Travel Info I've been in Israel for 4 weeks now, and from Friday afternoon and Saturday there is nothing to do. Any recomendations of business or thing to do that are open? Thanks! Travel Tips You must be in Jerusalem... Venture out! I live in Herzliyya and Saturday is full of shopping, eating out, and going to the beach! Also, Friday night has plenty to offer as far as bars, pubs, theaters, restaurants, etc. Tel Aviv is also not so observant, so many places are not closed on the weekend. Good luck and have some fun! Others There really isn't a whole lot to do. On friday afternoons try going to a local market and buy some good food and watch all the hasidic jews scramble home, its quite a remarkable scene. Friday night not really a whole lot to see, if you were in Tel Aviv there's probably night clubs but in Jerusalem I doubt you could find really anything. Saturday the only restaurants that are truly open are the ones not owned by jews and the ones inside tourist hotels. But saturday night, go out and partay! Get out the beach!!! If you're in J'lem- you can go to the Dead Sea or to an Arab village like Abu Ghosh and have some yummy Shuarma and Hummus and Falafel...mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm........ I think they are all resting at home or in church. Israel is cool. Enjoy the day. Give yourself a rest. Go meet your neighbors. When in Rome...! Young man, you should visit a local shul and be around others on Shabbat. It's the only day of the week we dedicate to our creator. Im in herzliya too, if your in jerusalem, get a taxi to Tel aviv. If you like sports there is a bar called MASH that caters for foreign sport fans. Tel Aviv has a good night life firday and saturday. |
