Suggestion for Peace in Gaza.? |
Travel Info As we all know the current violence in Gaza is disturbing and seems to be getting worse. From Fatah and Hamas clashes to rockets launched into Israel and retaliatory Israeli fire. The big losers are civilians living in Gaza and Southern Israel. As such I think the first priority is establishing who controls Gaza. Clearly the PA or Hamas has proved incapable of doing so and Israel is not interested. As such the responsibility falls to the UN. A good example of how this could be done is how the UN administers Kosovo, and it should be done until the Palestinians can govern themselves. As for security that would also fall to the UN or NATO because no one else is willing. Until such time a unified Gaza police/security force can be established. Travel Tips When we take responsibility and take action, and not wait for the UN, the United States or anyone else to come solve our problems. Whether we like it or not the Pals are a problem for us, and we have to solve the issues between us. I believe it is absolutely possible for Pals and Jews to live in harmony, it will require a lowering of the levels of stubbornness on all of us to accomplish that. And never stop asking G-d to end the violence and bring peace. For thousands of years this is all we have been praying for. We can make it happen, we have the power. Negative remakes, and facetious behavior is only a reinforcement of the stubbornness that keeps us from loving our neighbor (figuratively speaking). Others In Israel every action has a reaction and the original action is Israeli occupation of Palestinian land. If Israeli leaders want a real peace they should do the following: Stop Collective Punishment against Palestinian civilians in the West Bank and the Daily incursions, end the so called settlements, stop assassination policy, free Political Prisoners, stop destruction policy of Palestinian infrastructure, stop Land confiscation policy for The Racist Wall which Israel is building. And list can go on forever. http://www.amnesty.org/resources/israel_... Note. Gaza supply Israel with water and Gaza has its electrify plant. http://www.exposingisraeliapartheid.com/... http://www.palestiniantragedy.com/...... No country on Earth would take on that mission. It would be suicide; both sides would team up to destroy the occupiers, and said occupiers' hands would be tied by international regulators. Plus, an international peacekeeping force can't be the answer to every problem in the region. It didn't work in '67, and I doubt it's effectiveness today. There's no reason why there shouldn't be peace in Gaza; Israel gave the Pals everything they wanted. It's a lovely idea in theory. Alas in reality, I doubt it would work. In the past, when the UN was involved in Middle East conflicts, it proved useless in stopping Arab incursions into Israeli land, and failed to stop attacks on innocent Israeli citizens. Only Israel can be responsible for Israel's security, because only Israel really cares. A sad fact but true. As for the Palestinians governing themselves, again a great idea, but anyone who has watched the rival Islamic groups killing each other will appreciate that we could be waiting forever for them to enjoy any form of unity. The Arabs have launched five wars against Israel since 1948. They lost, and haven't stopped whining since. The Palestinians have spent the last 40+ years blowing up airliners, busses, synagogues, churches, theaters, nightclubs etc. all over the world and still haven't achieved anything except for proving that they are basically an extremely primitive and violent people. The former Prime Minister of Israel, Ehud Barak, was willing to give Yasser Arafat 98% of his demands and Arafat turned him down. Arafat then started the next wave of terror against Israel and the West. The present Palestinian "government" is in shambles because of their own in-fighting, not for any "occupation" or "oppression" by Israel ..... which voluntarily withdrew from Gaza. Like the former Israeli politician Abba Eban said, "The Palestinians never miss an opportunity to miss an opportunity!" When the Palestinians begin to act like a civilized people, then MAYBE the world will take them seriously. Is the water that Israel will supply to Gaza the same water that Israel is stealing from the Lebanese in the Bekkr Valley? |
