Is it true that husbands here use violence against wives? |
Travel Info I heard that from few females and I want to know Travel Tips Domestic violence is illegal, and by in large people respect that law. Only those still very strongly attached to a culture where domestic violence is condoned still practice it in significant numbers. Others No, absolutely not true. Israel has a much lower occurrence of domestic violence, rape and assault than any western country. And unlike in many Muslim countries, Israeli women don't get stoned to death if they cheat on their husbands. edit: to the answerer further down: it's not 'a stereotype' to state that in some Arab countries women are stoned to death if they cheat - it's FACT. I've actually studied this in my undergraduate studies in Israel. The phenomenon is most serious among the Arabs, where women still tend to have a subservient role. Israeli women, by and large, are liberated and are not afraid to assert themselves. Among some Jewish communities (e.g., among Bukharran community), domestic violence is a problem, but not on the same level as among most of the Arab communtiies. Violence is such a worldwide problem that you can't point out one country or one Religion. I do not know why the answerers above me automatically compare violence in Israel with violence in Muslim countries. Violence and mistreatment against wives/women you'll find worldwide not depending on any religion and in every society. How women deal with it, that will depend on their country/culture, their education and there also Religion might play a role. I do not think that Israeli husbands treat their wives any better or worse then any other husbands. You love and respect your wife or you don't. Take care. I was reading a study by a bunch of University's and it was reported that America and Europe had the highest rate of violence against woman. My own opinion is because woman are more loose maybe or get crazier so they are put in situations, like drunk in a bar, more often to get abused. Most middle eastern families I know respect the women because the woman are raised more repectfully. NO, I think saying Arabs stone thier women is a stereotype-big time. My mother was just talking about honor killings with me and its wierd all the propaganda people believe, at least in America. I know these things happen but rarely. In America, you always meet women with personal protection orders or know some girl thats been raped. I think the middle east gets a bad rap mostly. no more so than any place else no way!, your thinking of Arab countries |
