Why do the American people support Israel more than any other people, besides the Israelis? |
Travel Info I know about the Jewish lobby, but in every poll that I've read, Americans support Israel over the countries that they're in conflict with. I think it's great, but what is the reason that Israel has so much American support? And vice versa? Travel Tips I think it's because America has a history of religious freedom and not a history of religious persecution. By religious persecution, I mean anti-Semitism. While it is true that there was some element of anti-Semitism in America, is was mostly included in general Zenophobia, and not specific against Jews. I think that gives America a more open-minded view of the conflict, which leads to a more balanced perspective. America is also a country founded on Democracy, and has an appreciation for Democratic countries living on the frontier of the Western world. Others America has always gone for the "underdog". I would guess it is because most of their neighbors make no bones about the fact that they want Israel destroyed. They teach stories to their kids about pleasing god by killing jews. I don't believe we should just blindly support everything Israel stands for, but you must admit that it would be hard living in that tiny nation knowing that all who surround you want to kill you. Because they supply us with blood diamonds and Ecstasy. The real question is why are so many American young people being murdered in Iraq and no Jews? After all, it really is their problem. Didn't their president just resign because of a poor job of salesmanship? Rape and no jail time? We need more allies like them(:) Because US has its own interest in that region and there is no doubt about that. Because most of the neighboring countries has oil and US want to get max out of it by making Israel a threat for them. this is a simple 2+2 calculation. I am America and I don't support Israel. In fact, when Mel Gibson said what he said, I thought finally the truth. lol I think it has to do with Evangelicals and their religious beliefs. Some of these Christian people are more Zionist then the Jews themselves. Also, Europeans are influenced by the Arab world a lot more then we are in America, they are a lot closer to the middle east. I think that Israel has to be supportive of America, but not blindly supportive like they are now. They have to have an opinion of their own, and have to act out of their interest first, than think of the US, Britain..... |
