Should we help free Jonathan Pollard?

Twenty-two years ago Jonathan Pollard was imprisoned on charges of passing American security secrets to Israel. The Jewish people refuse to forget him.

The latest attempt to free Pollard is a nationwide call-in campaign, to ask President Bush to issue executive clemency. The number to call is the White House at 1-202-456-1414.
Just say that you want to express your concern for Jonathan, and that you feel that 22 years is more than enough time for what he did, and that you feel that he needs to be free.
Make that call at least once a week, and if there are enough of us calling, we will FREE Jonathan Pollard.

ROAR!!!ive been calling for ages now and nothing is being done but im not going to stop!!
Let him stay in jail. He passed data to Israel which risked agents in Europe and Asia, plus gave dangerous military data to the USSR. Israel gave this data to the USSR (knowing it was dangerous to US agents) in return for the USSR allowing more Jewish families to leave for Israel. It has been estimated that Israel and Pollards passing on data to the USSR cost the lives almost 100 US agents and sympathizers in the USSR. Why hasn't Israel expressed any remorse about that? Pollard betrayed the US and caused the deaths of many people. He should have been executed as a spy.
You can not pass classified secrets to other countries. You can not alone decide what is o.k. to pass and whom to pass it on to .
He committed treason and deserves to be in prison.
The man that passed information to the world that Israel has the Atomic bomb had to do time. And he did a favor to Israel showing the Arab countries that they would get atomic trouble if they invaded Israel.

True Americans should call that number and say keep him in.

I do not want to judge any case, coz I am not a professional and I do not think that anybody here knows the whole story.

Just one question: If Israelis call for freedom of somebody who pleaded guilty for spying (a criminal act) where is the phone no. for supporting Mordechai Vanunu who was looked up in an Israel prison 18 years long for just telling the truth (not spying!)? He is still not allowed to leave the country and still lives under restrictions.

If, then should we not be "fair" to everybody?

Dear Israeli fellows, please be honest. What does a person have to face spying in Israel for another country? Any pardon? Any calls for support in this section here? I have my doubts. Does it make a difference for you if someone is spying FOR or IN Israel? Please be fair.

edit: I got your drift. But Pollard pleaded guilty for spying. Guess he should think about the consequences before doing it. He's an American and should be famillar with the american law. I personaly can feel sorry for him, but............he brought it on his self. Just thinking you are doing the right thing does not mean you are doing the right thing, right?

edit: maybe comparable to the on he got in the US. I don't know. what punishement a spy has to face in Israel?
