Yallahs, St. Thomas Jamaica?

Can anyone tell me about this town? The size? Friendliness of the community? any other information would be greatly helpful. I have found a property very cheap but have not been to this town before. We are Americans but have been to Jamaica many times and do not like the touristy feel of the larger cities. Thanks everyone.

Ok the answer you just got is a very touristy answer...since I am from there, here is my asnwer. Yallahs is some what a mid size Jamaican community divided up into smaller chunks. Its less than 30 minutes east of kingston. It is typical of most rural areas in Jamaica where everyone knows everyone and they will know that some Americans moved in. If i knew the name of the exact location where you got this property I could advise you better. That said, to make your transition easier it would be smarter if you knew people there or pretend to know people there, so that you are not taken advantage of. As with any community in Jamaica its who you know that makes your life easier. Here are the basic warnings dont go flaunting any money, its not america and 119 dont usually come on time. You notice I said 119 which is the reverse of 911 so it should be easy to remember. All in all its a growing town with all the drama of one, you should enjoy it there the people, the food, the culture, If you follow the befriend the progressive local mentallity. I live here in Atlanta Georgia but still have a strong presence back home, If you want I could introduce you to the right people who could be your rock during your transition. well it isnt a very big town, its rural st.thomas, has lots of flora and fauna, bananas, rivers . its located eastern jamaica and there are lots of mineral springs and baths there.
