What are some good souvenirs I can bring back to the US from Montego Bay, Jamaica? |
Travel Info Im going there with at least 238000 JMD Jamaican Dollars. Travel Tips That sounds like a lot of money, but it depends on how long you will be there for or if that money is for souvenirs only! Right now that is about US$3500. However, there are tons of souvenirs to choose from and to fit every budget. There are things such as woodcraft items, paintings, ceramics, handicraft, clocks in the shape of Jamaica, with Jamaican scenery, with Bob Marley's picture etc. as well as the usual, Tshirts, keyrings, bracelets, bags, coasters and rum. Don't worry, anything you can think of you will be able to get.jamaican flag,white rum,key chain,all that other stuff. Shot glass, key chain, t-shirts, rum, candles with coconut, pineapple and other local smells, The blue mountain coffee.....and a product called Rum Cream. THe best is Sangsters...I have never found it here - it is delicious. ALso, they make neat wood carvings and also iron stone carvings...I brought back a mermaid and a fish. ALso, you wont be able to leave without Rasta beads mon....and if you smoke - they make some mean pipes....and if you have a sweet tooth - get some ginger/coconut candy. Our friends love the wonderful coffee. Gift shoppes are full of great tees and trinkets. I like to bring back wooden maracas or you could ask a Jamaican where to pick up "seahearts" on the beach. They're a seed from a plant in the rain forest. A lot of Jamaicans still put one in the water barrel for purity. Some are shellacked and made into beautiful key chains with beads. Some people believe if you carry one on a boat, it will never sink. There are lots of other little legends about the seaheart and they're free if you know where to look. You might also buy cool knitted hats, even one with fake dreds for a friend who loves reggae. Rum,shotglasses,tshirts,bags,h... belts,mugs...youre not going to blow 3000 USD on souveners...right? lol |
