You can enter with an id, return ticket and proof of financial support. In August you will need to have proof that you have applied for your passport, so that you can return to your country. This will hold until September 30 by when you should have received it. It is really with the US immigration that you will have the problem and not with the Jamaicans. The arrangement exists because the US cannot produce the passports fast enough.They figure all will be well though by October 1. There is a serious back log of passport applications and as long as you have applied for a passport and can show proof you can travel to Jamaica... you will also need an original birth certificate or a notarized copy along with your regular photo ID. What you really absoutely must have if you have no passport is the proof of application for one and then need birth certificate. Passports are good for 10 years and they do not remind you when they expire. So check yours out and renew or get a new one. Kinkos is great for cheap passport photos and also the post office. If you live in the US, yes... they won't let you back into the United States without a passport. yes |
