Travel Info What is the best area to vacation in jamaica in december and why? Travel Tips Hi You have to remember that Jamaica has neither spring nor summer nor autumn nor winter. The temperature is more or less the same throughout the year. April can be a bit wet at times (April Showers) and so can June to November (Hurricane Season in the Caribbean). Noone knows way ahead of time if a hurricane will hit, but warnings are aired if a hurricane heads in that direction. (Jamaica). In December, Jamaica comes more alive as it is the time to celebrate the birth of Christ. Stores open earlier and close later to capitalise on sales, Christmas decorations are EVERYWHERE, but all other activities remain the same, so it really doesnt matter where you vacation. It only depends on what you really want to experience. People in Kingston, Ocho Rios and Montego Bay move at a faster pace than in Portland or Negril. Portland is still lush and unspoilt, very quiet, but Negril has quite a few large hotels and is rapidly changing. Remember too that the Caribbean countries are truly laid back when compared to some others. For a vacation I prefer Montego Bay simply because it is midway between Negril and Ocho Rios. There is no problem to make a day trip to either location. Others Montego Bay. negril why? not - as - many - tourists as other destinations like mobay/ochos rios. been to all many times :) ocho rios or kingston because thats where all the fun gonna be. i'm from jamaica i should know if you're into dancehall reggae, every year on boxing day is the biggest one night dancehall concert there is, STING!. everyone who's anyone in dancehall performs at this and it goes alllll night. sting takes place in portmore i believe, not too far from kingston. if you want to know more about it go to www.myspace.com/reggaesting. |
