Are there any good shuttle/taxis in Jamaica? |
Travel Info I will be traveling in August and need a good taxi or shuttle to travel from Negril to Ocho Rios? Travel Tips I will not advise you be a tourist and take a "robot" taxi it is not 100% safe so I suggest you go to www.jamaicayp.com and check for some chartered taxi service or call Kosmo tours toll free from the US at 1-800-646-3468 or 1-876-920-1192-3 and they will provide you with all the information you need. Good luck And have lots of fun when you come to Jamaica, store some of the warmth you will receive for the winter season Others There are several taxis in Negril as well as cheaper means of getting to Negril. You can look in the yellow pages for charter taxis or have your hotel arrange transportation on your behalf. Alternately ask a local about using 'robot' taxis. These are public taxis that travel on particular routes. Since the trip is shared it is less costly, and presents an opportunity to mix with the locals. It would mean breaking your trip into stages and changing robots at different locations. Try getting in touch with the JUTA office in Negril. They are a taxi association with courteous, knowledgeable drivers and good service. I can't think of a number for them but I am pretty sure ALL hotels can get in touch with them for you. We have many taxi (sometimes I think too much) so that shouldn't be a problem, just make sure you get a good rate.
