The head of the Japanese government is the prime minister, and so far, there has never been a female prime minister in Japan. I'm Japanese. The form of government in Japan does not allow for a president, rather, the leader of Japan is the "Prime Minister". There have been no female prime ministers in Japan. The highest office to which a female has risen is a cabinet member, or leader of her political party. The most notable leader of a Japanese political party is Makiko Tanaka. She was the leader of the Social Democratic party. Her father was a former prime minister. She was also Minister for Foreign Affairs in the early years of Koizumi's prime ministership. No, Japan has a prime minister, and HIS name is Shinzo abe Although no Prime Minister has been a woman, the FIRST recorded ruler in Japanese history was a female!
