Being Japanese?

I am so proud to be asian, specificly japanese then one day my other friend tells me that japan isn't part of asia but I showed them lots of maps, pictures and explained to them that every country belongs to a continent and (she's chinese AND indian and black or something or other, anyways) and she says that when people think of asia they mostly think of chinese people and said that only chinese people are asian and now it's really starting to bug me!!!! can someone please help me!!??

i always get asked, in this order, "are u chinese? r u japanese, r u korean?" ppl definatly consider japan part of asia. take her out and ask about a dozen random ppl or ppl from ur school, do u consider japan part of asia? she'll get it

Well, Japan is part of Asia, even if it's not connected directly by land. Here, just show her how many people agree that Japan is, in fact, a part of Asia. She can't still think it's not if she sees that 19 out of 20 people say otherwise.
No ancestors you can get ahold of back in Japan. You don't know any other Japanese people? History teachers?
My opinion your Asian....you should have asked her or go ask that person that said you weren't then what are you then.
I've never heard anything different and I'm about as American as they come. Sometimes people are so ignorant and tell people something they know nothing about.

did your friends grow up here in the US? if so it is common and i have experienced the same. as you well know Japan is part of Asia so do not let it bother you.
If Japan is not a part of Asia, what is it?? Maybe she is a proud Chinese, but why do you so worry and upset about her? There are more than China in Asia, and people in the world know that, you know? Sha was just kidding, perhaps. She must be! Otherwise, she needs help...
