Which area to stay in Japan?

Travel Info
which area would be a great place to be staying for a short trip, eg Shinjuku, Ikebukuro, Shibuya.... need a place where access of subway and food is readily available and of course shopping... any feedback.. thanks...

Travel Tips
I would suggest Shinjuku or Shibuya if you want to be in the middle of shopping, food, entertainment, museums, etc. Tokyo station is good but Shinjuku is the main station for all of the touristy stuff and the subway lines all go through this station. I have heard recently that Shinjuku is becoming more dangerous but Yoyogi and Ueno are closeby and are also very nice. You should not miss Harajuku on a Sunday if you want to take some cool pictures of kids dressed up as anime characters or goths. Also, try to check out the Park Hyatt Hotel in Shinjuku and go to the top floor. This is where many of the "Lost in Translation" scenes were filmed (the piano bar). Drinks are a little pricey and there is a table charge on weekends but it's worth it if you're visiting for a short time. Hope this helps!

It would be best if you stay in Tokyo, after all, it is teh capital of Japan.. You can find here teh places you need to be able to enjoy your trip.. Amusement parks, hotels and parks.. And if you're a big fan of gadgets, animes and teh like, going to Akihabara is a must.. ^^
Stay At Osaka or Tokyo Osaka has a great subways and lots of food places to visit and shopping, lots of fun
try Koriyama. it's a smaller city but has everything with out the big city hassle. i've been there twice and loved it. take a day and go to Aizu and another day for Matsushima. and if you want the big city Tokyo is only a few hours by train.
Shibuya is the BEST!!
