How old must you be to fly alone?

Travel Info
My friend and I are planning to go to Tokyo this coming December. However, were both only 17 years old. Are we even allowed to fly at that age? And as for Hotels and checking in, again..will we be allowed to check in at that age?

Travel Tips
There's no problem flying but most hotels in Tokyo will not allow a person under 18 to check in. This could pose a real problem for you.

Might I suggest you contact their YWCA?

Well yeah if your parents approve. Kids younger than you fly across the country everyday. All you need is a passport and money then you're all set! Good Luck!

P.S. I'm not sure about the hotel but I know you do need a credit card of some type
i dont think you can do those things until you are 18+
17 years of age usually means you're still a minor...besides, doing those things might require an I.D. with you as an adult...i dont think you are an adult just yet...but if your parents help out, you might be able to do so...
good luck
I've took airplane alone four times and I was totally fine.
I was 15 at the first time, and I'm 16 now.

I don't know about hotel, though.
