Are there any jpop stars known in the US?? |
Travel Info i just wanted to know Travel Tips Hikaru Utada and Ayumi Hamasaki is quite popular. Others There are no mainstream J-Pop singers in the United States, but some are known by certain groups of people. I would say that the two most well-known are: Puffy Amiyumi and Hikaru Utada. Puffy Amiyumi has a cartoon show about them, so many girls who watch their show know who they are. Hikaru Utada is popular among anime fans and gamers. Gackt is kind of well-known among anime fans and gamers, as well. In general, the people who know Japanese singers in the United States are: Asian-Americans (Japanese and non-Japanese), people who have traveled to Japan, people interested in Japan, anime fans, and gamers. Aside from these, the typical American would not know any Japanese celebrities. (Except Yoko Ono. lol) not really. most people are oblivious to jpop stars... but i guess ayumi is pretty well knwn through the fob groups... where I live a lot of people know the boys invovled in the Johnny Entertainment business, for instance, News, Kat-tun, Kanjani8, Winds. Other than that, a lot of other people like the jrock stuff. |
