How to transfer from JR line to subway at Shinjuku station? |
Travel Info How to transfer from JR line to subway at Shinjuku station? Travel Tips Get out of JR Shinjuku staion, then follow the signs for the subway line you want to take (there are at least two in different directions.) Unlike some stations, transfer between JR and subway cannot be done within the same station in Shinjuku. You need to get out of one station and enter the other. Source(s): Tokyo resident. Other Travel Tips This is very easy...just follow the signs. At every station where JR and Tokyo subway cross, there will be an exit from JR, then a wall of ticket machines and a ticket window selling tickets for the Tokyo underground. You may also buy a pas that includes both lines, but this is only worthwhile if you are traveling a lot through Tokyo. In many cases, when traveling through Tokyo, you can use either JR line or Tokyo subway.. I find the JR less convenient, unless you are forced to go out to Disney or outside of Tokyo. If you are traveling towards Kamakura/Yokohama area, try the new Yokohama lines as well. Get out the JR South gate (Minami Guchi) then turn left, just follow the sign. It will take you arround 10' walk (inside the Lumine buiding). There are some other ways as well but that one is simple and easy for you. Remmember, Shinjuku station is the biggest station in the world and very easy to get lost. Currenly living in Tokyo, near Shinjuku Here's the map of Shinjuku station, you can also print it out. http://www.jreast.co.jp/e/estation/e_shi... it'll depend on whether you want the Marunouchi, Oedo, or Shinjuku line... for marunouchi... north exit... by studio alta.. or stay underground and follow the signs... |
