If you are quite small and have some money, definitely go to places like Harajuku, Shibuya, and some of the big shopping centres in Tokyo like Roppongi Hills, Midtown. If you are quite small with not much money - go to places like Okachimachi near Ueno. If you are a larger girl with money, go to the department stores like Sogo, Daiei, OIOI, Takashimaya. If you are larger girl with not much money this will be the hardest. You are limited to places like Uniqlo, Paseos, Shimomura. There is one great store for women of all sizes in Ueno. It is in the ABAB building near Ueno station (4th Floor). It has really cute stuff, reasonably priced and has all sizes. Shopping in Japan can be hard if you are a taller larger western woman. They tend to have broader shoulders, larger breasts and hips. But maybe you aren't so its not important. Remember Japan has a huge consumer culture and if you look you will definitely be able to find anything you want and there are clothing stores EVERYWHERE. I have given specific info for the Tokyo area but some of the dept. stores are located all over Japan. Have fun. Others Japan is one of the most expensive countries. If you want to burn lots of moolah, Tokyo is the place for you. |
