Are the Japanese racist? |
Travel Info In Japan are the Japanese known to be racist against people of other ethnic backgrounds? Travel Tips not all japanese are racist but keep in mind that each and every country has a couple of racists in there... even in the states where they already outlawed that Others I think there is a racist in every nationality. I am sure there sre some japs. that dont like people in china. Not the ones I have been in contact with. They seemed very open to outsiders. Absolutely not... I'm Korean myself and although I may not appear different from any Japanese man, I've approached people in Japan (Kyoto, Tokyo, Osaka... ) in English and they were VERY courteous. One lady actually helped me find a hotel and let me use her cell phone. Japanese people tend to be extremely polite and respectful based on my 2 week trip to Japan. Some can be, but I guess after the Vietnam war and such... A certain level of predilection toward one's own race is normal due to familiarity and upbringing. Some are more extreme by way of racial exclusion which can be deemed racism. The Japanese may be branded racist because of their act of atrocity during World War II. Japanese culture has long had a sense strong patriotism. But, because their population lacks the diversity that the USA has it usually comes-off-as 鈥測ou are either Japanese or a foreigner.鈥?If you really want to split hairs you can call it racism but it鈥檚 more nationalism. On an off hand note, Yankee is used as Japanese slang for a juvenile delinquent. |
