My friend and I want to go to Japan for a vacation.? |
Travel Info She lives in CO and I live in New England. One day, we want to visit Japan for about a week. (Like, in the Summer) How much will it cost? Travel Tips Make a Budget. Round trip airfare will be over a thousand dollars. Contact a travel agent for the best fare. Also try and get a packaged deal. It might make things cheaper. I got a great deal to Singapore when I went there. Hotels will be at least $50 a night. You can get food for as cheap as $4 a night. Then there is transportation and entertainment. Not sure what you want to do. Others I went with a friend for 2 weeks. We booked our trip through a travel agent and it cost us $2,300 each. That included airfare, hotel, transportation to and from the airport and a half day tour. I thought we got a pretty good deal. I LOVED it there! So enjoy! if ur visiting tokyo r other cities it costs a lot,its pretty hard to find a place to stay, hotel rooms r tiny enough to fit a bed(sometimes they r small capsules).yen is of low value considerin pounds r dollar, but instead of $10 for room u'll be payin some 1000yen r even 10000yen for that matter.having to know someone there is better idea..but its a great place to visit, short people, highly influenced by the west, crowded, kareoke, bullet trains and tokyo is the worlds most advanced city. Depending on the time of year you visit, the prices can be quite different, for example, in the summer time, when everyone is on vacation, the prices will be much higher than if you went in the autumn like I did, this time of year, you would be looking around 1000-1200ish for the flight, hotel room, figure about 40-200 a night depending on how classy you want to go. I would suggest on only a week long trip, stay in the Tokyo area only, your time is too short to be spending 3-4 hours minimum sitting on a train each way to go to Osaka/Kyoto Some people really enjoy being led around by the nose on a tour, others, like me prefer to just go out, explore and get lost on my own, I always find some really cool places that if you are on a tour, you would never see. IF you want to try and save money look into couchsurfing as an option there is a website (google it) where you can find people to stay with on your travels, the cost is free, and you really get some awesome looks into Japanese culture that way. hotel will be a huge part of your total cost. Food is pretty expesnive as well. Its really up to you as to what quality you want. I think you should probably bring like $800 The best months to travel to Japan are May and September, weather-wise. Japan can be prohibitively expensive (and crowded!) during the major holidays--New Year, Golden Week (some time in May) and August. A week in Japan, with flight and everything else included, can cost as much as $3000pp! Even a little bit of research can drive that cost way down. If I were going for a week, here is what I would do. I would fly into Osaka airport instead of Narita and take the express train to Kyoto, the old capitol. I would base myself there, spending 2-3 days at the beautiful and famous temples and sites (Kiyomizu-dera, Arashiyama, Ryoanji, the Gion District to see the apprentice geisha, etc.). A bus tour is probably your best bet. There is a nice and not too expensive ryokan called Matsubaya that is close to Higashi honganji temple. The lady who runs it speaks enough English to get by, and the ryokan is fairly traditional and not like a hotel at all--very Japanese and very cool. Also try okonomiyaki (Japanese pancake). Hiroshima is where the bomb was dropped and should be a must for every tourist. The friendliest Japanese people I met were in Hiroshima! It's easily done in a day trip from Kyoto. Another day trip is a trip to Himeji to see the castle and go to an onsen (hot spring) in the same area. I have never understood the attraction of Tokyo, so I can't recommend it. Have a great time, whatever you decide to do. Japan is a strange, fascinating place! I lived and travelled in Japan for 2 years. |
