Best way to visit teahouse(ocha-ya) in Kyoto is join a night tour for overseas visitors. Travel desk of your hotel will book for you. It is almost impossible to enter and enjoy by yourself unless you are familiar with those facilities. The reasons are:

1. manners at ocha-ya and geisha asobi (entertainment) is very complicated for foreigners.
2. high end ocha-yas in Kyoto do not accept new customers unless they are introduced and guaranteed by their long lasting clients.
3. If you could clear the above 2 and enjoyed Japanese traditional ambiance and culture, you will be got heart attack to see the bill. It will be well over 10 times of the most elegant French restaurant in your town.
