Travel Info I am going to tokyo for the first time and I would like to know what area should I stay by? Travel Tips Ikebukuro! Specifically the Ikebukuro Sunshine City Hotel. I stayed there the last time I went to Tokyo. There are lots of fun places and I find it hard to get lost, PLUS the hotel is connected to a mall in the lower basement area that is known for really good food. One entire floor is basically food food food. They have a really good place for Gyoza too that has lots of different styles and types of Gyoza. (I know that isn't really a Tokyo treat, but they are known for awesome awesome Gyoza) It's also basically a straight walk from the hotel to the train station. Roppongi is fun, but it's really a clubber's place and it's super expensive. If you do like to club though, look for Velfare is kinda famous and you can probably find videos on youtube showing you it. Others I like Yanaka. http://www.2think.org/japan-hotels.shtml... In Tokyo, you should go to Shibuya for shopping and maybe drinking. Near Roppongi, go to the Tokyo Tower. Roppongi is known as the foreigner area so if you want to see other foreigners, go there. I also recommend Meiji Park, and the Imperial Palace. http://www.tourism.metro.tokyo.jp/englis... I wish I knew your age and travel agenda... it would be easier to make a suggestion. Do you like to go out to clubs/nightlife? then Roppongi is for you. Do you prefer to shop at the big department stores and upscale boutiques? then Ginza area is for you. Are you trendy? Want to hang out at cool acfes and be out on the weekends to "See and be seen"? then Omatosando/harajuku area is for you. (you will come here to see Meiji Jingu shrine anyway) Want the hustle and bustle and big, neon lights? Then Shibuya is for you. A good , central location is the Hotel New Otani or the Prince. (across the street from each other) You can get a decent price online and you will be within a short subway ride of everything mentioned above. 2 different subway lines cross here.. one of them is the Ginza line, which will take you practically everywhere you want to go. www.newotani.co.jp/en/tokyo/in... |
