Things to do in Nagoya and Komachi city? |
Travel Info I'm going to be there for business for two weeks in October and would like to know about nightlife and major tourist attractions. Also, time and cost of shinkansen to Tokyo. Travel Tips It takes about an hour to 90 minutes on the shinkansen. I don't know the price off hand but one way is close to 10,000 yen. Nagoya has several sites worth seeing such as: Nagoya Castle - modern museum inside of the castle's history Atsuta Jingu - the second most important shrine in Japan Half-an-hour away is Gifu where you might still be able to do Ukai: comorant fishing Near Gifu is Inuyama which has the oldest preserved castle in Japan. There's a festival in Takayama which is an hour or so away in mid-October. Others One of the must-see places in Nagoya is Osu, where a series of old-style shops and market stalls line the street. If you want to get quality and unique merchandise, it definitely is the place to be. Sakae, located to the north of Osu, is where the nightlife happens. It has bars, clubs, restaurants, and other evening attractions. After exploring Nagoya the bullet train will take you to Tokyo in about two hours, and the ticket costs a little over 10,000 yen. Hope you have a good time there. I vote for Osu-Kannon. There's a famous takoyaki stall there (actually it is a chain, Gindako)--you can't miss it bc there's always a long line of customers. There's also a cool temple. It's just a fun area to walk around, kind of boho. There is also a very nice museum of modern design, if you are into that (I am). I can't remember what part of town it's in, probably in Sakae or close by. |
