Japan Travel, Play, and Stay ? |
Travel Info I have a trip to look forward to heading straight out for Japan, but people(please) where Should I land, stay, and/or visit ? If I've quickly becomed attached, where should I think about living( In a hustling area or quiet scene, Where would this be) ? Travel Tips I think it depends on what you like. Tokyo is a great place to visit but I wouldn't want to live there. The crowds, lines, congestion on the trains, etc....on a daily basis would drive me crazy. When I lived there, I lived in a city with a population of 330,000. I loved it. IT was big enough that it has things to do, but it wasn't so crowded that it was annoying. I was also near nature so it was nice. Go for a medium sized city or a city just outside of Tokyo. Others I would stay in Tokyo and Kyoto at least. In Tokyo, I would visit Akihabara, Harajuku and the Meji Jingu Shrine, Ueno, Shibuya and Shinjuku, as well as anywhere else that takes your fancy. In Kyoto, I would go to Kiomizudera, Ginkakuji and Kinkakuji. Himeji castle is also a great place to visit, so is Nikko and Nara. It really depends what you want to see. There are a huge number of sights to see in Japan, it would probably be impossible to see them all. Check out this sightseeing guide and see what appeals to you most: http://japan-guide.com/e/e623a.html... I don't know if you like big cities or small towns best, so I can't tell you which you'd enjoy most. If you do like big cities, Tokyo is the biggest of them all, and a very cool, but expensive place to live. Kyoto is also a great city to live in, beautiful temples, good food and friendly people. Other big Japanese cities have many things to reccomend them. Osaka, for example, has delicious food and a friendly welcome. If you're looking for somewhere more quiet, then Kyushu or Shikoku might be more for you http://japan-guide.com/ |
