I am thinking of going Hokkaido in August, any MUST go attaction? recommendation? Any tour agency to recommend?

I love Hokkaido! You are so lucky. I am not sure which part of Hokkaido you are going to, but I would make a trip to Oraru from Sapporo by train and eat fresh Sushi and visit Glass museum. You can also drive or find a tour to go to Furano area and check the lavender firm. Enjoy the Gingis Kahn-Nabe. It is very famous pot lamb dish in Hokkaido. Good with beer! Have fun!

You must not miss Sapporo, the biggest city (1.2 million population) in Hokkaido. It is the city voted to be the most attractive city to live in Japan. But if you go further from it is the rural area, that might remind you of the scenery of the U.S. farm or rural France. Furano is the popular spot with people from abroad and from Japan but is a rural city too. You will have no difficulty asking people in English because they will try hard to speak English back to you. They are naiive though. I am not naiive.
