How many miles is it to climb Mt Fuji from stage 5 area? |
Travel Info If you have climbed Mt Fuji in Japan from stage 5 area. How many miles is it? Travel Tips The vertical drop from the top to the Level 5 is about 1 mile. As for the climbing route, it depends. It is usually about 10km (6.2 miles). When I tried before, I started level 5 off at 9AM, and reached the top around 6PM. I had to sleep with stranger never met in the same futon mat (cos lodge is not large). Buy wooden climbing stick like the guys. http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h129/m... There are lodges at each level. Each lodge will give you a brand (Reached level 5, 6 ,7..) on your stick. http://kori.to/blog/archives/2005/08/ima... http://www.tongalist.com/fuji77.jpg... Others Thank you all for your informative answers :) Now I know both how far and how long it will take. Here it is : http://66.102.9.104/search?q=cache:z_u_w... This trail from station 5 is "only" about 5 miles, and ascends "only" 5000 feet. If we could do the standard AMC trail time, that would take about 5 hours. We took about 7 hours, which is not bad for hiking above 10,000 feet with no acclimatization and heavy crowds - by flashlight. I did it last year and it took us 7 hours to reach the top. It would have been about 6 hours, but there is a serious traffic jam of people as you near the top. You do not want to reach the top too early, because then you will have wait in the cold until the sun rises. We started our climb at 2000 hours in the evening, rested from 0000 to about 0200 and then reached the top about 0430. Some people start their climb at about 1500, rest often and long along the way and then sleep at one of the station hotel-cabins from about 2200 hours until 0200. If you wull climb, be prepared in case the weather turns foul. |
