Travel Info In Japan, is it true that the Japanese are really a year less then the age that they say they are? Travel Tips both of you were wrong, actually china, vietnam, korea, japan we all count like that the day we were born it count as 1 year already, but we are really look younger than our real age a few years thought, Others Not really. Some people start counting their age to include conception as opposed from at birth. But people who do that are not around any more, if you know what I mean. Now, people count their age from their birthday. But you would be hard pressed to get anyone, especially a female to tell you her age any way. They LOOK 10 years younger than they really are. Maybe that is what your friend was talking about. No, that's not true. I think in Korea, you are 1 -year old on the day you are born, but not in Japan. Lived in Japan for 2 years I'm a Japanese. In the traditional Japanese reckoning, you are one year old at birth, with one year added at every New Year. This age-reckoning system is called "kazoe" in Japanese. Older Japanese people might say, "I'm 60 years old in "kazoe" " in their conversation, but there are very few younger Japanese to refer to this type of age. So, If I say I'm 20, I'm really 20 years old! Daijisen (Japanese dictionary) No that's wrong I'm afraid.I'm not Japanese but have lived here for the past 17 years. |
