Theres A Place Called Naruto,Japan??? |
Travel Info if it's called naruto ,japan does that mean that they worship naruto? Travel Tips the word "naruto" means maelstrom in Japanese. I don't think they named the town after the naruto you are talking about (anime). Others First question-yes.It is situated in Tokushima prefecture and is famous for its whirlpools. They say the strongest current in the world is near Naruto city. http://www.city.naruto.tokushima.jp/livi... Second question-no Naruto槌撮杸means roaring gate from the sound of the waves , which is signified by the same kanji槌淬倠and gate闁€, because of the strong current. It dates back to 1947, long before the manga. Yes, that's exactly what it means. They had been called Naruto for thousands of years, then when the manga came out and started getting popular they used that as a tourist attraction. Now that the anime is such a big hit in the States they've gone even further and set up a Naruto festival where everybody gets dressed up as the characters and eat ramen. And yes, I am so being sarcastic. Just because it's spelled the same way doesn't mean one references the other. Welcome to Japan where several different words can be spelled the same way and mean totally different things. Naruto is a place famous with Uzushio, it is like a whirling waves or maelstrom in the sea. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-_h-2lih9... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z-hpgjdz7...
