I'm going to Tokyo at the end of November and will be staying in a hotel in Minato-Ku. Good locale? |
Travel Info I'll be staying at either the Le Meridian Pacific Hotel or the Sheraton Miyako Hotel, both in Minato-Ku. I'm a single 25 yr. old guy and want to explore as much of the city. I also want to go out at night and get into some trouble. I hear Shinjuku and Roppongi are good places to party. How close would my hotels be to these areas? On a map doesn't look too far. I want to be close to the action though. Travel Tips tokyo city has very good transportation system. it may be a little far to walk (but if u dont mind, u can actually walk.) from one place to another as u've mentioned above, but the subway system in tokyo is one of the most convenient ones of all. no worries, their subway stations' exits are easily found. and they take u to all the places u mentioned. yes indeed roppongi is a higher end of entertainment district while shinjuku is more for the hippier funkier young crowds. so dont worry. its close enough. but still hands down for the subway in tokyo. because of it, much walking arent that required! enjoy ur trip. Source(s): been there. was there. Other Travel Tips I've stayed at the Meridian Pacific, it was a nice hotel. The room was a little small for my tastes however but it didn't bother me because I wasn't paying for it. They had a nice buffet breakfast the next day that was included in the room. Bought separately I think the price would be close to 2100 yen for the breakfast alone. The location of the hotel is pretty good as Shinagawa station is literally across the street. From there you can get to Shibyua and Shinjuku easily as you take the Yamanote (灞辨墜) line (the green one). If you want to get to Roppongi from there, the easiest way is to take the same line to Ebisu and from there catch the Hibya subway line (marked by a grey circle) and take it two stops to Roppongi. Keep in mind that the trains only run until about midnight (some lines will end their run around 12:30) and if you're stuck your only choices are to take a cab, party until the trains start running again in the morning, find somebody to shack up with for the night or find an all night manga cafe and take a nap there. I live in Tokyo. It depends on where in Minato-Ku? Roppongi is in Mitato-ku, and it is the most popular to foreigners for the night clubbing. Shinjuku is also popular, but it is in Shinjuku-ku. Just saw Sheraton Miyako Hotel website. It's in Shirogane-dai area. It's a nice place to stay, since it's about 10 min. to Roppongi by taxi and close to Shinagawa train station. You can go anywhere from there. |
