Does anyone know what the bathroom, dining room, bedroom, and/or entrance room is called in a Japanese home? |
Travel Info I need to know what the above are called. No kanji/hirigana needed, just how it would look in English. Also, if there is no certain word for it, please tell me. =) Travel Tips In a Japanese home. bathroom锛歨uro锝a 鈥淗uro鈥?means a bath. 鈥淏a鈥?means a place. dining room锛歴yoku锝ou 鈥淪yoku鈥?means to eat. 鈥淒ou鈥?means a space. bedroom锛歴hin锝hitsu. 鈥淪hin鈥?means to sleep. 鈥淪hitsu鈥?means a room. entrance room锛?genkan锝iroma 鈥淕enkan鈥?is an entrance. 鈥淗iroma鈥?means a hall. That's all! (^o^)/ Others Bathroom - ofuro Bathroom (as in toilet) obenjo Dining Room - shokudo Entrance - genkan Bedroom - shinshitsu additionally ... Living Room - ima Kitchen - daidokoro Garden - niwa Bathroom=Ofuro Ba (Bathing room), Senmen Jo(Face washing room), Toilet(Same as English) Some places are all together, some are separated. Dining room=Shokuji Ba(Eating room) A lot of Japanese house don't have separate Dining room, but use Living+Dining room, or Kitchen+dining room. Bedroom=Shinshitsu(Sleeping quarter) Entrance room(?) = Genkan Hope this won't confuse you. |
