Should I go to Tokyo for a holiday ?

Travel Info
I'm from Malaysia and my friend is working there so we could stay at her appartment. But the air ticket is expensive and I'm afraid if I go there I'll be broke when I get back. And I'm afraid that it might not be worth it because I'm really not in to Japanese culture and stuff. But I'm looking forward to experiencing a different culture, new gadgets and the scenery. I'm scared I might be stressed out since tokyo is a city with alot people... and if we go in August its the peak holiday period. And I'm traveling somewhere else so its abit rush for me. And I'll be travelling with another friend also and I'm afraid I might be streessed out during the tour. I also have to book the tickets and apply for the visa myself, which I haven't done before, since I usually join a tour. So, is tokyo worth it... is it a once in a lifetime opportunity to visit thing ?

Travel Tips
Well, being broke isn't good. If you can budget the money then go for it! I think you'll have a great time there. I lived in Japan for 3 years and loved it. I understand that it can be stressful. The subways and trains are easy to understand. I think you'll be fine. Don't be stressed!! Source(s): http://www.jnto.go.jp/eng/

Well, personally, Tokyo wouldn`t be my choice of a place to spend a holiday, especially in August when it is hot and humid and just yuck! There are some nice places around Tokyo like Kamakura and if you are into wild and crazy fashion, architecture and gadgets and stuff, Shinjuku, Harajuku, Akihabara, and those places may catch your fancy. There is also Tokyo Disneyland and Disney Sea, but during August those places will be so crowded they aren`t even worth it. .but that is about really all there is. Most people would rather go to places like Kyoto, Nikko, Hiroshima and so on when they visit Japan. Tokyo you can take it or leave it , of course if you have a friend here....

I live here too and my parents have been here once and would rather not spend the money to come here again, so we have been managing to meet in other countries (like Hong Kong) for a change of atmosphere.
It sounds like you're going to be very stressed out, wherever you go!

If you live in a big city, then Tokyo isn't going to be THAT exciting. It was pretty cool for me - from Canada. It's a very different culture from that of Canada.

Only you can decide, though...

Good luck!
You want to come to Tokyo during the hottest month of the year? I hope your friend has air conditioning because it's gonna be a hot and sticky time without it.

To avoid the heat, you'd be better off going north to Tohoku or Hokkaido where it will be a little cooler and a little more bearable. And the best part about it is that it's green up there. Tokyo is a big city and there are patches of green here and there, but the majority is simply concrete which traps heat and makes the city even hotter.

If you want to go outside the city for a bit, you can always try Hachioji, Okutama, Nikko (see the temples and the monkeys), Kamakura (the big statue of the buddha), Nagano, Nasu or somewhere by the open sea.
no~!
No, go to a less humid Japanese city.
