What are my cheapest options that I can use to get to Hiroshima, Japan from Portland, Oregon? |
Travel Info I am hoping to travel sometime 2008 in August, 2 adults Travel Tips Your best options are connecting flights from Portland to either San Francisco or Seattle. Also, try traveling on Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday as these are usually cheaper than weekend flights. Start looking for competitive pricing in January 2008; don't wait until spring as the later you wait the more likely you'll pay more money. We've taken four different airlines, including Japan Airlines, in our travels. It all depends on which airline is offering the best deal. Here are a couple of the online travel agents we've used: http://www.travelocity.com/ http://www.orbitz.com If you prefer to work with a local travel agency in Portland, I'd recommend Azumano Travel: http://www.azumano.com/ Source(s): Personal experience; we travel to and from Oregon and Japan regularly. Other Travel Tips The closest international airport to Hiroshima would be in Osaka. Kansai....From there, take the Shinkansen.....I guess local train would be cheaper but would take a lot longer. It wouldn't be too comfortable after a long flight. For the cheapest flight info, contact a travel agent. You can go visit www.asia.com and will find the fairly great prices. You may want to find the flight to Kansai Airport (Osaka) or Nagoya. You can take a train (Shinkansen is faster) from the airport to Hiroshima, but you will have to carry all the luggage of yours. Another option from the airport in Japan is to find the shuttle bus that will take you straight to Hiroshima. It is usually available. That way, you do not need to carry anything but to the outside of the airport where the bus picks you up. My guess is the cheapest way would be the NWA flight from Sea-Tac to Osaka International, and then the bus. However, it might make sense to go to Seoul and then catch a flight to Hiroshima. I think that you should check the price at Japanese travel agency. Most of the time, they have a better deal than other American co., like Expedia. From Portland, Oregon to Kansai Airport should be as cheap as anywhere from U.S. There is a direct fright from Portland, I believe. I use IACE USA.com. By the way, are you going there for pleasure? I have to tell you that August is the most warmest time in Japan, and it is very humid! You will still have fun, though I chose to go there only in the Spring or Fall. :) |
