What's with all the thumbs down?

I don't get it and it makes me think I have some kind of stalker on the Japan board, or somebody with an axe to grind.

I live and work in Tokyo, I'm giving legitimate answers to people's questions and yet during those times I check I see (on average) 3 thumbs down for my answers. And yet, another person who says similar things will get three thumbs up.

What's the deal? Am I dealing with some top contributer that sees me muscling in on his or her territory, or is it something else?

It isn't just here. It is in every section. There is an invisible boogyman who wants to give everyone thumbs down.

In the Philippines section, a troll is giving people violations right and left for no apperant reason.

Once in a blue moon this happens and you get a stalker - basically an online bully. Just report the occurence to Y!A who, unlike us, can see WHO keeps voting you down - accounts are pulled sometimes when folks bully others online.

It's a pity but there are some incredibly childish people on here I 'm afraid - and, laughably, mostly NOT the children.

There are small minded people in all walks of life, you, alas have picked one up - rather like a sheep acquires tics or a dog fleas. They nibble at you for a while and finally die off by the wayside.

Just ignore it if you can - or report it to Y!A - sooner or later they will lose their account / interest and actually find that they can have a life if they try a little harder.

At least it has no impact on points.

While I'm not active in the Japan category (Though I've done a little study, I'm by no means qualified to give answers on much other than feudal Japan), but I've known the situation before. Where I give answers, possibly not even on a controversial subject, and get thumbs-downs, etc. it can be somewhat annoying, but remember, if your answers are as good as you say they are - they will certainly go heard. The possibilities are of course that you have a chronic thumbs-downer, obsessed with you, that your answers aren't as good as you think, or that there are random thumbs-downers about in the category. I know there are people who do the first and the last, and I can't vouch for, or against you on the middle. It stopped happening to me so much after I made a couple answers, on questions where it is relevant (like this) mentioning it. All I can say, is good luck.
Also, if you want to take action, formulate suspects who may be your stalker, if you want, send them an e-mail. Or block them, I would recommend the former though.

It happens quite a bit here. I answer mainly here in the Japan cat so I'm not sure about the other cats.
锝濱t could be anything! In MY case, last year, I gave an answer that someone strongly disagreed with. They sent me a message telling me so and I started getting thumbs down then for awhile.
I have the e-mail option open on 'My Profile'. I get good positive feedback when I've helped someone and feedback from people who disagree with me. 鈾_^鈾°€€Unfortunately this happens quite often. I welcome all feedback though!鈾_^鈾°€€
銆€I've noticed it with other great answers as well. I thought it was just ME, an American living in Japan with a Japanese hubby for a long time now...\(^鈭嘵)/. I personally don't let it bother me, there will always be people who disagree with me, I think. The thumbs up/down option is there, so people use it. Nothing we can do because YA gives the people here the right to use the option. 锝炩槅BUT!(*^o^*) I think most people here at YAHOO!庐Answers know a GOOD, informative answer when they see it and just disregard the thumbs down. That's a good thing. They'll choose a good answer as best even if it has a thumbs down. At least I would!(^_-)-鈽?br />
I honestly hesitated to answer this Q. because I'm not sure why it happens, it's not just you though...

I like what Adam wrote...... Don't pay attention what "thumb" say. You , Adam & Cyn are Top Contributor for a good reason. ( that's what I see it.) I believe so many peoples did appreciate what you guys and other "top contributors" post answer here.
Hard to ignore the thumbs down...especially when you're someone like me who can spend up to an hr researching data for someone and put it into an answer...
